The Xcel Project

The Xcel Project is based on three core themes – Activity, Employability and Leadership – which shape everything we do. These pillars guide the wide range of programmes and services we provide for young people in our community.

Through Activity, we create opportunities for fun, creativity, and healthy living. From holiday programmes packed with engaging events, to weekly youth clubs and relaxed drop-in nights, there’s always something happening that brings young people together.

Our focus on Employability helps prepare young people for their next steps in life. We work closely with local schools and run dedicated projects that build practical skills, confidence, and real-world experience, supporting young people to achieve their maximum potential.

The theme of Leadership runs through everything at Xcel. We encourage young people to take ownership, build their voices, and lead within their communities—whether through volunteering, peer support, or projects led by young people themselves.

At the heart of our work is the Xcel Youth Centre. This safe and welcoming space provides internet access, a place to connect with others, and access to trusted support and advice. Here, young people can find reliable information on a wide range of issues while feeling part of a positive, supportive community.

Activities

Our activities form the basis of everything we do. We offer opportunities for young people of all ages to engage with the project, have fun, learn and develop themselves. We are always looking at new ideas for projects and activities.

Employability

We want to challenge young people to look at what they are going to do when they leave school or exit further education. We will encourage them to think about their future and provide them with the information and skills they need.

Leadership

Leadership is an important part of the Xcel Project. The majority of our volunteers are under the age of 25 and we also want to give young people who have engaged in the project previously the chance to stay involved.

About Xcel

Our vision describes our hopes for the future and sets out the long-term difference we hope to make to the lives of children and young people.
