Employability at the Xcel Project

At Xcel, we are committed to helping young people prepare for the world of work, develop practical skills, and access opportunities that set them up for success. Our employability programmes are designed to support young people in building confidence, gaining qualifications, and connecting with local employers.

ASDAN Awards

We offer young people the chance to complete ASDAN awards, which recognise achievement in a variety of practical and personal skills. These awards help learners develop teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and life skills, providing a tangible record of progress that can support further education or employment opportunities.

Linking with Local Employers

Through our established network of local employers, Xcel helps young people connect with real-world work experience, explore career options, and gain insight into different industries. By building these links, we can open doors to apprenticeships, part-time work, and mentorship opportunities, helping young people take the next steps in their employability journey.

Support with Training and Equipment

We understand that access to training and the right equipment can be a barrier for some young people. Xcel provides guidance and, where possible, funding support to ensure participants can access relevant courses, certifications, or tools needed to succeed in their chosen field. This might include vocational training, short courses, or specialist equipment to help develop practical skills and confidence in a safe and supportive environment.

Building Skills for Life

Our employability focus goes beyond formal qualifications. Through workshops, volunteering, and project participation, young people gain transferable skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and leadership. By combining these experiences with qualifications and real-world connections, Xcel ensures that young people are better prepared for education, employment, and life beyond the project.

At Xcel, employability is about empowering young people to identify their strengths, pursue opportunities, and build the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
